Sandy Beach Hotel & Snoopy Island Diving in Fujairah

Snoopy is the name, diving is the game...

The UAE, more specifically Dubai, may have some of the best beach clubs around but thats all man made. When it comes to snorkel spots & underwater wildlife, it's slim pickings. However if you tell any avid diver, there's an underwater paradise waiting 2-hours drive away, that's almost like telling a kid there's a candy store across the road...

The road to Fujairah itself is an experience especially if you're the one driving. I'm sure you all know what I mean so I won't bother spelling it out for y'all. Plus the views are unmatched, there's just something about endless desert & sand dunes that soothes the mind.

Sandy Beach Hotel is a cute 4-star hotel that beats all the 5-star hotels around for a few reasons but the main one being, it is the only one to have access to the underwater heaven known as Snoopy Island.

The island is just a couple hundred metres swim away from the mainland. The reef surrounding the mass of land is spectacular! No matter what time of year you visit there will always be something beneath your feet! I try to go on a monthly basis and always make sure to find something I haven't seen in any of my previous dives, and I haven't failed yet...

The variety of fish is absolutely astonishing, and if you are lucky you may even get to see baby sharks in the water! Yes, believe it, the words "lucky" and "shark" in the same sentence! Slightly paradoxical but true...

Just beware of the low tide which can appear surprisingly quick, leaving you diving in less than a metre of depth over the coral reef.

If you don't want to hit the road back to the city on the same day, the hotel has small bungalows &/or very nice rooms where you can stay for the night for a decent price. The resort has everything that you need from a gym, pool, restaurant, bar and even a diving centre.

Sandy Beach Hotel is always my first choice for a great get away from reality and in my case, I don't have to actually get on a plane & travel for hours on hours.

Already looking forward to going back...
